EGX 2011 Diary: Day 1

Thursday 22nd September 2011

Thus starts a 4-part series of brief statements regarding my thoughts and feelings of the weekend.  Apologies if it doesn’t seem very coherent, my mind doesn’t work like a lot of people’s.

Day one of the Eurogamer Expo 2011.

Being press has it’s advantages: a specific press area to sit and chill and write some things up.  However, it does mean you have to lug some heavy stuff around in a bag all day.

Cues for the PS Vita and OnLive are mahoosive (no other word for it), so I guess, I’ll need to try and get playing them at some point tomorrow.  (And pick up an OnLive console, too).

Played a little of most of the games I wanted to during the whole thing today.  Avoiding Battlefield 3 and MW3 at all costs.  Won’t it be refreshing to have at least one gaming site that doesn’t poop out the most torrid crap on those 2 games?  I know, I know, stop going on about it.

Met up with some of the guys from TSA and MediaKick, and, oddly, ShopTo.

It’s tiring work this games malark.  Anyway, off back to the hotel for some sleep.  Though the free wifi for press is too good to pass up.

Note to self for future: network and set up interviews BEFORE events like this, might help out with things to do.

Second note to self: Don’t bring laptop because you need to haul it around with you.  Buy netbook.
